In its 14 years of existence, Open Door Fund has had an important impact -- making grants totaling over $350,000 to agencies and programs serving the LGBT community in Boulder County. Please see the list of previous grantees.

2009 GRANTS

The Open Door Fund makes grants totaling $30,000 in 2009 to the following organizations:

Aging Services Foundation of Boulder Bounty

To provide a Rainbow Elder tea/dance for the LGBT community and allies, conduct a LGBT Estate Planning Workshop, provide four Project Visibility general trainings that we conduct in Boulder County, bring in a nationally know speaker on Aging from a Trans Perspective, and update the Silver Lining Directory.

The All Terrain Lesbians Foundation

The ATL Foundation provides small grants to lesbians who need financial assistance due to ill health. We identify prospective grantees and conduct a thorough application process and personal interview, including verification of conditions by medical providers, and then make grants accordingly.

Bent Lens Cinema

Bent Lens is Boulder’s glbt film society, producing quarterly glbt film programs serving gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people in Boulder County.

Boulder County AIDS Project

BCAP's goal is to make its website the center of HIV/AIDS information and support, as well as to introduce the country’s largest and most inclusive archive of those who have died from HIV/AIDS, titled “Remember”. Remember will become a virtual memorial to the victims of the HIV/AIDS pandemic.

Boulder Pride serves the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning (LGBTQ) community of Boulder County. Boulder Pride’s mission is to foster safe environments for selfexpression, gathering, support, and dialogue; advocate for social justice; collaborate with others who share our vision.

To engage a consultant to conduct an evaluation of past work, perceptions and experiences regarding LGBTIQ issues in the district, and conduct a needs assessment to determine how to best serve the needs of LGBTIQ students and their parents, staff and faculty and the district as a whole.

The Colorado Anti-Violence Program (CAVP) is a community based, statewide organization working to end violence within and against Colorado’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) community.

  • Outreach to LGBTQ youth and their parents
  • Meeting support and education needs of LGBT persons, parents, family members and allies
  • To develop safer school climate in St.Vrain School District
  • To address violence/harassment against transgender persons in schools and confrontations with the law and general public
  • Spiritual inclusion of LGBT people in welcoming faith communities.

Transgender/Genderqueer (TGGQ) Outreach Project for August 2009- June 2010. The purpose of the TGGQ Outreach Project is to create and sustain education, outreach and advocacy for transgender, genderqueer/gender variant issues on campus and in the community through trainings, educational programs, advocacy and resources.

Women's Health

SHAPE program, a collaboration with BCAP, which trains 15 local youth in sexual health, HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention. These peer educators share their knowledge with other youth and adults through classroom presentations, one-on-one interactions and community outreach and organizing.
